“ | I'm driving a spaceship, I'm back in command, I'm driving a spaceship, I'm back in command. (Balthazar: Calm down.) DON'T TOUCH ME WHEN I'M SPACESHIPPING! | ” |
–Benny to Balthazar. |
Benny is a 1980s spaceman who suffers from a lack of oxygen due to the fracture and leak in his helmet. He is part of Emmet's team and one of the three tetartagonists (the others being Unikitty and MetalBeard) of The LEGO Movie and one of the main characters of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. He is voiced by Charlie Day.
Background[]
Benny is a Master Builder spaceman who has an unreasonable, addictive desire for building spaceships. He is based on the blue classic spaceman minifigures released in 1984 who acted as soldiers or personal security.
Portrayal in the Sets[]
Benny comes in five sets: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow, the Double-Decker Couch, 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!!!!, 70841 Benny’s Space Squad and 70821 Emmet and Benny’s ‘Build and Fix’ Workshop! He is the first ever LEGO minifigure to be designed to be broken (the aforementioned leak in his helmet). He also, sports double-sided face print.
Personality[]
Benny is all-together a friendly, polite and genial spaceman who is very enthusiastic about his job. He loves spaceships, almost to the point of obsession.
While Benny is usually fairly happy-go-lucky, he becomes sad when someone tells him that they don't need him to build a spaceship. He also appears to be easily irritated when he has to deal with technology that he doesn't understand.
